At South Face Construction Ltd. we specialize in crafting finely built and thoughtfully designed custom homes in Nanaimo B.C. and throughout mid-Vancouver Island. With over 20 years of experience as residential builders, our commitment to quality and precision is reflected in every project we undertake.
From the very beginning of each project, we integrate ourselves into the design process, collaborating closely with our clients, architects, engineers, and interior designers. This early involvement allows us to gain a deep understanding of our client's unique needs and vision, ensuring that every single detail is aligned with expectations.
At the heart of our business is a strong focus on communication. From pre-construction through to project handoff, we keep our clients informed and involved every step of the way.
We work with a team of industry leading craftsmen and dedicated subcontractors who share our passion for excellence. To maintain the highest standards of quality, we intentionally limit the number of projects we accept each year. This ensures the full attention and complete focus that each client deserves is expertly managed by our experienced project managers.

Owner / Red Seal Carpenter
Todd Myers
Todd Myers is a red seal carpenter, passive house tradesperson and has 20+ years of experience. He brings an ability to manage projects from start to finish, whilst getting in the mix with the carpenters. He is passionate about thoughtful design, has a unique eye for detail, and has the propensity to evaluate and digest complex components of a set of drawings. When he's not working at his business, you can catch him with his family, skateboarding, camping, or practicing violin.
Red Seal Carpenter
Stephan Gaos
As an experienced red seal carpenter, Stephan brings over 20 years of experience to the table, coupled with the ability to communicate with the staff clearly and in a light and humorous way. He's constantly cracking people up, whilst handling the project at hand which creates a great workplace environment. When he's not working, he's at his property in Costa Rica, ripping mountain bikes with dog, cooking or surfing.

Luke
One of our trusted apprentice carpenters, Luke came on with SFC in 2021 and has been a shining light of integrity, ingenuity and has impressed us on all levels.
Client communication, and problem solving are definite strengths. On his time off he enjoys hanging with his wife and two sons and working on his vehicles.

Bryce Luke
One of our trusted apprentice carpenters, Bryce is a hardworking and skilled individual who takes pride in every task, no matter how big or small. With a strong sense of independence, he consistently demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship while learning and growing in their trade.
Bryce enjoys all the board sports. When he's not scheming on his new house design on Gabriola Island, you can find him climbing, skateboarding, surfing or snowboarding.

Liam Smith
One of our trusted apprentice carpenters, Liam started out as a labourer and now is developing and honing his skills as an apprentice.
His great attitude, contagious laugh, and depth of knowledge regarding music and arts is a welcome attitude on site.
Foreman
Hobbs
12 years on the jobsite. Full-time hard ass, part-time napper.
Don’t let the small frame fool you, Hobbs runs a tight ship. With over a decade of experience sniffing out shortcuts and supervising from the front seat of the truck, he's got no patience for slackers or squeaky boots. He barks, you move.
Known for his sharp eye, sharper bark, and occasional post-lunch nap in the sun, Hobbs keeps the crew in line and morale just gruff enough.
